I returned from my solo trip a week ago. It was all I had hoped and then some. Well aside from the torrential rain, could have done without that. I was really glad I was alone in the rain. If I had been with the kids it would have been really difficult and I am certain quite whiny. Being alone though I could roll with it much easier.
As usual I am documenting my trip over on the DISboards here. A few highlights for me:
*Being able to do and see what I wanted, when I wanted
*Keys to the Kingdom Tour, awesome!
*Being at the Magic Kingdom at 12:45am
*Seeing Wishes, Illuminations and Fantasmic all in one trip, my kids are never up for so many late nights
*Single rider lines
*Meeting up with some DISboard buddies for evening EMH at MK
*Meeting up with a Mom from my October 99 Moms board, we've written each other 9 years and finally met in person!
*Meeting up with a friend from college I had not seen in a while
*Stopping to really smell the roses and see the many details
*Digging deep and finding self confidence I didn't know I had
The downsides? Well really the only one I guess is witnessing some really unDisney like behaviour. I think the rain had a lot to do with it. I saw more crabby parents than ever before. If it had been my once in a lifetime trip that week I think I would have been upset too. It wasn't just rain, it was TORRENTIAL at times. For hours at a time. If you didn't have a good attitude about it, it could easily create a horrible experience. Aside from that I saw several incidents of guests swearing very loudly at either other guests or CMs. Never have I witnessed that and I hated it. Nothing intrudes on the magic more than some sorry excuse for a man berating a woman with the worst words you can use in front of othe people and children. He was a disgrace.
Would I do it again? Absolutely. But not for a while. I want a few trips in with family members but yes I could see myself doing it again down the road. I think it is good to get away alone for a few days. You learn alot about yourself.
128 days till we see the Mouse again!
