Oh I love a rainy night....

Well not really but it is raining like the dickens here courtesy of TS Hanna. She has made her way north and is really nothing but a rainmaker for us. I just ran out to the deck to lower my planters (they blew away last time we had a really big rain/wind storm) and in the 5.5 seconds I was out there I got drenched. Poor R had to go up to the school. The power went out earlier I guess and it is now wreaking havoc on their alarm system. So here I sit at almost 10pm on a Saturday night alone. *sigh* the life of a wife with a husband who is on call pretty much 24/7. I was able to get some work done for church and I might just go snuggle into my bed and read.

Today was a good day. J had his first soccer game of the season. I am co-coaching and he moved up to the U8 level this year. Our team did great despite the sweltering humidity. It felt so gross out there, so sweaty. As they would come in their faces were all red and shiny, their hair all damp. They played hard and didn't let it slow them down that is for sure. J started in goal and stopped a few. He was diving and really getting into it. I think he loves playing goalie! Later he played offense and defense at different times. He scored a goal which was very exciting. It was nice to see them all out there for the first time. They did well today, I can only assume they'll get better as the season goes on. As much as I initially gripe about coaching once it starts I do enjoy it. I don't enjoy the practices much but the games I do for sure. To cheer them on, see them succeed, see them grow as a team, it is very, very rewarding.

K had her first U10 game today too. She is on a travelling team now and once they hit the U10 age group they go to all girl/all boy teams. I had to miss her first game because C and J had a birthday party to go to. K was invited as well and was really sad to miss it. R took her to the game. She started in goal and stopped a few. Then she played offense and scored. Then she got a bloody nose. But they won, she played hard and had a good time. I can't wait till next Saturday to see her play. She amazes me year after year with how much she loves sports. She is definately our athlete.

I enjoyed my rest day for my training today. Tomorrow another 3 miler. We have 18 weeks till we race. I have a funny feeling it'll be here before we know it.
