Falling into Fall

Okay so technically it is still summer for a few weeks more. And yes it was scorchingly hot and humid yesterday but still there are signs around us that Fall is running towards us and ready to slide into Home plate. Are you ready for it? I think I am. Fall is my favorite of the seasons. It might be partially because I live in New England where I don't think Fall can get any prettier or majestic.

*Patriots first official game of the season is on today! Fall is here baby! The kids have been warned, Sunday afternoons now belong to Brady and Company. They are invited to watch with us or go read a book for 3 hours or some other quiet, parental unit not needed activity.

*The leaves are starting to turn, I kid you not. In our bathroom when I am in the shower I can look up through the sky light to one of our bigger trees in the yard. It is always my barometer of where we are in the year. Is the tree bare, are the leaves budding? In this case they are now turning. Reds, oranges and yellows are appearing. In a month or so we will be at peak color and around where I live with many trees and rolling hills, it is a sight to see.

*The Apple Orchards are ready to be picked! We have a fantastic orchard in our town complete with snack shack selling cider and dumplings, penny candy counter and rickety old playground. We will be going there this week for our first picking of the season!

*The grocery store has Halloween displays already. This one I am not so happy about. Sure fall is here in a few weeks but Halloween is about 7 weeks away! Goodness people, slow down! If I buy Halloween candy now it will surely be gone by Halloween!

So Fall is coming and I am ready. Ready for cooler days, ready for crisp air, ready to pull out Pumpkin Roll and Apple Dumpling and Cinnamon Roll recipes. Ready for fireplace fires and digging out sweaters and comfort food and lighting warmly scented candles.

Bring it on Fall, I'm welcoming you with open arms!

I love fall, but our foliage won't happen until much later.

ENJOY ....

I love fall too. Just tonight we were talking about pumpkin roll, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and all the other fall goodies. I also noticed the leaves turning on the tree outside our diningroom while we were eating dinner. I'm so ready for the cooler weather. I've even stocked up on my PartyLite Ginger Pumpkin candles! LOL!
