Yup, just coming in to update since it has been a few weeks. I'm leaving in 2 hours for the airport. My long awaited solo trip! I'm nervous, I'm excited, I'm feeling a lot right now! I'm bummed that I am leaving beautiful weather (after a very rainy summer) to head to rainy, stormy weather but that is Mother Nature for you. I'm really thankful for R who puts up with, and supports, my crazy ideas like taking a solo trip. He and the kids will be heading to Maine on Saturday till Tuesday and I know they'll have a good time too. We'll all come home Tuesday and school starts Wednesday!
In other news I reconnected with a friend I hadn't spoken to in a long time and it was very nice. It was good to hear from her and see what she has been up to. She's someone I admire very much and it is just always a nice feeling to catch up with someone you have been out of touch with.
Running is going well. When I return I'll be starting my real training program for the Half. I'm going with John Bingham's Marathoning for Mortals plan. It is 14 weeks so it should begin in early October but I'm tweaking and adding a few weeks at the beginning so I'll start it sooner than that. Time to really kick it up a notch!
Kids are well, loved their week at camp, LOVED it! They are already talking about next summer and C and K would like to do the Sleepaway week instead of the Day camp week. We went to a Family Fun day last week for all summer campers and this place so impressed me. There are so many staff members and they all just seem to love their jobs! They are so friendly and excited and peppy. I can't tell you how many teenage girls were picking up and hugging J, he is quite the ladies man at the ripe old age of 6. Everywhere we went it was "Oh J, you are back" "Hi J!" and it seems everyone knew his name. This kid is a trip I'll tell you. I think it is a combination of his very outgoing personality coupled with an unusual, yet pretty cool, name that makes people always remember who is. It cracks me up. He honestly reminds me of Ferris Bueller. Everyone knows him.
Okay, enough babble, got to go shower, gather my things and get ready for my adventure. I grabbed a book at the library called The Pull of the Moon. It is about a woman who finds a blank journal and leaves her home to go off on a trip alone to fill up the journal. It seemed appropriate for my trip. Although on the surface it is *just* a trip to Disney, inside, to me, it is much more. It is one of those things I just want to prove to myself that I can do. No time for psychobabble at this hour but I'll just leave it as this is more than just a little trip to me.
Until next time!
