Love

I am sitting here with my coffee, no one in the house is up yet. It is before 8am on a cloudy, muggy Fourth of July. My neighbors just walked by. If you look up "Love" in the dictionary, I think you'll find them. If you look up "Good People" I think they'll be there too. I cat-sit occasionally for them and saw on their calendar one year that they had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. I am guessing that makes them around 70 or so. They have 4 grown children and quite a few grandchildren, all out of state. They live in a 12 room, 3 floor home. It is large and he will be up on a huge ladder doing roofing. He keeps a giant garden and quite a few blueberry bushes. In the winter he is the first one out there, getting his driveway down to bare pavement. When I ran my 5K he told me "Speed it up or you'll be training with me next time". He's not kidding. He runs, he ran by me the other day. Fast. He's amazing. And she? She is blind. Not from birth, I don't know the whole story, but I know she did have sight in the past. She does not let it stop her. She will be out there weeding her garden, walking laps in her driveway and she is in a bowling league. Yes a bowling league.

They ride a bicycle built for two around town and go for lots of walks. She has her cane and they hold a strap between them to keep them connected. These aren't always leisurely walks, they move. They love to ballroom dance and go away for weekends to attend ballroom dance events. They love to travel and since I've known them have done quite a few cruises.

They supply my family with all the blueberries we'll ever need and garden items too. It just produces way too much for the two of them.

I just watch them and see how amazing their relationship is. To them age is most certainly just a number. They are more active than some people half their age. They do a lot, together, and nothing, not even her lack of sight, seems to get in their way. They are inspiring.

R and I, and most couples, stand to learn alot just by watching them.....

WOW, how neat that you get to witness just a little bit of their life.
