Been a while!

I haven't been able to post in a while, life sort of got in the way! In the past almost month:

*R and I ran our 5K! We finished, I was only 23 seconds behind him. I finished in 37:40 and I did a 6R/2W for the whole thing. I am experimenting on the R/W and reading a John Bingham and a Jeff Galloway book right now for more info on the R/W plans. I think I am going to use Binghams Half Marathon training plan starting at the beginning of September. We are really getting close to some serious training!

*Kids had their last day of school and field day. All had stellar report cards, C got High Honors for like the umpteenth term in a row. They are all happy with their teacher assignments for next year and I am too.

*We vacationed in Maine with our best friends! It was a lot of fun, very laid back and relaxing. Lots of boogie boarding, card playing and food and fun. I came closer than ever to getting my tattoo but I am still inkless. I really think it will be soon though.

*We got R's new car. We picked it up Tuesday. It is a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. It has all the bells and whistles and is a pretty sweet ride. The kids have now dubbed my van "the turd" and I'm kind of offended. Dad's may have the sweet audio system but he doesn't have the DVD player and I do so I am sure they will be crawling back to me when a long ride comes up.

*Planning J's birthday gig. We have a guy from The Creature Teachers coming with 8-10 animals. Yes there will be a large tortoise walking around my yard as well as an alligator for kids to touch. *gulp*

*Changed the hotel for my solo Disney adventure next month. Instead of All Star Music I've moved myself over to Pop Century. It opened up and I thought I'd feel more comfortable staying somewhere I was familiar with already. And I really liked Pop and its unshared buses last time.

So off to visit our friends (the ones we vacationed with) today at their parents lake house. My kids are looking forward to tubing and a few of them intend to try their hand at water skiing. Me? I'll be inside reading a book. I get way too panicky with stuff like that and it is probably best that I just don't watch.

PS This is the song R and I cut our cake to at our wedding :)

YAY on the running! Today is the day that I dust off my running shoes and get back out there ... it has been nearly 2 months.
